Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the OpenRAD app and its online services (openradvr.com and api.openradvr.com, together “OpenRAD”, “we”, “us”) collect, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can have it deleted. OpenRAD is a community project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Ready At Dawn.
1. Data we collect
When you use OpenRAD on Meta Quest, we receive the following through the Meta Horizon platform:
- User ID: the ID Meta assigns to you for this app, used to identify your account.
- User profile: your Meta display name / username and profile picture.
- In-app purchases and downloadable content: which items or add-ons your account owns (entitlements) and records of purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Meta; we never receive your card or payment details.
- Challenges: the challenges you create, join or are invited to, and your results in them.
- Device ban: a device identifier provided by Meta, used only to stop a banned device from rejoining.
Our servers also collect:
- Game data: your in-game profile and settings, cosmetic loadout, match results and statistics, and moderation records (reports, warnings, bans).
- Technical data: your IP address, connection and request logs, app version, headset model, and error / crash reports the app sends.
- Voice chat: if you use voice chat, your voice is relayed in real time to the other players in your match. We do not record or store it.
The website openradvr.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in, confirm what you own, and keep your profile and progress.
- To run matchmaking, lobbies and matches, and show your name and profile to other players.
- To run Challenges and their results.
- To keep the game safe and fair: handling reports, and enforcing bans (including device bans).
- To keep the service working and secure: preventing abuse, fixing bugs and crashes.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to build profiles for any other purpose.
3. Who we share it with
- Other players see your display name, profile picture, in-game profile, and match results.
- Meta provides the platform features listed above (sign-in, profile, purchases, Challenges) under Meta's own privacy policy.
- Service providers who run our infrastructure for us and may process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (network and security) and Hetzner (server hosting, located in the United States).
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect players or the service from harm.
4. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, entitlement, Challenge and game data: while your account exists.
- Connection, request and error logs: up to 30 days.
- Ban and moderation records: for as long as the ban lasts, so it can be enforced.
5. Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your data at any time. Email [email protected] from any address with the subject “Delete my data” and your Meta username. We will confirm the account is yours and delete your account and the data linked to it within 30 days, then reply to confirm. Logs are removed automatically within 30 days. A device ban record may be kept until the ban ends if deleting it would let a banned device return.
You can also email the same address to get a copy of your data or to correct it.
6. Children
OpenRAD is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used OpenRAD, contact us and we will delete their data.
7. Security
All connections to our services are encrypted (HTTPS / TLS). Our servers accept traffic only through Cloudflare, access is limited to the project's administrators, and secrets are kept off public code.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and post the new version on this page.
